Starting in the health care field as a Certified Nurse's Assistant, it did not take me long to figure out that I wanted to be a nurse. Two years in, I graduated from nursing school as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Less than a year later, I was convinced to take a position as a Wound Care Nurse in a Long-term Care, 143 bed facility. I had no real experience in wound care and had no idea what it really meant, or required, to be a Wound Care Nurse, especially in such a large facility. But boy did I find out, and fast! I was lucky to begin learning under an amazing and experienced doctor and the rest is history. Even after graduating nursing school for a second time, this time as a Registered Nurse, I always remained a Wound Care Nurse. Through my experiences and working alongside highly qualified and experienced providers, I have learned the ins and outs of wound care. Along this journey, I've witnessed so many wound care mistakes and unnecessary wound developments, which has led me to teaching. I am determined to change the world of wound care, one nurse at a time!
